Ten goals to achieve with a BiblioChip System
With a desire to bring its services, media offerings and library technology to the leading-edge, Springdale Public Library, AR cooperates with Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems as its RFID supplier.
“We chose Bibliotheca because of their product, experience, and excellent customer service. It has been a pleasure to deal with them,” stated Lisa Caldwell, Automated Services Coordinator at Springdale Public Library.
The Library retrofits an existing building with RFID technology to achieve ten goals, like improving security, reducing time required for circulation transactions, increasing efficiency of staff and improving accuracy rates at checkout and check-in. Furthermore, they want to maximize patron self-check and even provide a SelfCheck Station in the Children’s area. One of the major goals is to streamline materials processing and handling. In addition, the library improves its inventory capabilities while working with a BiblioWand for a mobile inventory control at the shelf. Shelving errors will be minimized as well as the reducing the time needed for the location of paged items.
The installation of SelfCheck Stations, BiblioGates, BiblioReturn Machines and an efficient, quiet Sorting System has started in autumn 2008. “With the Library’s Integrated Library System being Millennium Release 2007, we will be able to successfully implement the fully integrated interface in cooperation with our partner, Innovative Interface.
The Innovative Libraries can count on our continued cooperative technology to provide the best workflow available with an RFID solution,” explained Lamar Jackson, CEO & President Bibliotheca USA.
The Springdale Library has a wide collection of 195,000 items with a circulation of 700,000 annually. It typically adds 18,000 items to its collection each year. As a member of the Washington County Library System (WCLS) which includes seven other member libraries the public library provides a vast collection to its 52,000 library card holders.
