Functional options increase media security

2010, July 19 - Cham, Switzerland

The BiblioGate Tracker is an optimum service program for monitoring gates and therefore ensuring that media are fully secured. The new version 3.6 now offers additional, practice-oriented functions.

The use of a special camera which monitors gates by means of still photographs or video provides an ideal enhancement of the gate. The camera can be flexibly mounted on a ceiling or wall, depending on the perspective required. The library determines whether the camera is to be continuously active or only operate for a defined period after registering a motion signal. In the event of an alarm being triggered, the new GateTracker transfers the relevant image data to a temporary directory on a secure FTP server or a permanent security directory for analysis. The temporary data is automatically deleted on an ongoing basis. This generally happens after just a few minutes.

The differentiated statistics option is another new feature: previously the current number of users entering and exiting the library was only shown at the base of the BiblioGate, whereas now the counting function is in addition time-related and the data can be exported into a text file for statistical analysis. As before, every alarm is registered as standard and the relevant media number from the library system is recorded so as to show conspicuous accumulations or frequent alarm periods.

In configuring the system, the library can freely determine which data is to be stored when and for how long. Either the actual through-flow figures per time period can be shown or else an accumulated figure over a lengthier period can be generated. With progressive daily counting the counter automatically returns to zero at the start of the next day.

Accurate statistical data enables the use of library capacity to be analyzed and interpreted more precisely. This makes it possible to adapt personnel deployment or even opening hours if necessary.
