Bibliotheca has further refined the BiblioCockpit - its leading product for centralized system management - to meet customer specifications. New functions increase the performance of this progressive management console, opening up numerous benefits for users.
Role management: full control of access rights
Thanks to role management, a library can now define individual access rights for BiblioCockpit operation. A clear structure is provided and communicated as to which staff members hold administration rights to change the configuration, who has other operational rights and who is able to view and monitor system activities via the cockpit as a "passive user". Role definition simplifies the administration of user rights and therefore enhances efficiency. Role management is currently one of the leading trends in identity and user administration. It is a professional instrument with which to protect the system configuration from hasty or unintentional intervention or changes.
Time-based device control: maximum performance at all times
Time-based control of the return and sorting system provides maximum flexibility and boosts capacity utilization of the equipment. Certain processes can be allocated to precise time slots and automated as required. For example, it is possible to program various levels of security which come into effect at particular times of the day. The protective cover of a 24-hour return facility could remain automatically closed outside library hours, for example, and only be raised to permit media return once the user has been identified.
Thanks to time-based control, the sorting system can be programmed for greater productivity. At the weekend in particular when there are no staff present, it is important to ensure that the return and sorting process runs smoothly and reliably. For example, a special weekend sorting function can be set up which abandons the defined sorting criteria in the event of a full container and automatically feeds into a different, free container. This makes the most of the capacity of the BiblioContainer - and media are sorted reliably at all times.
Return and sorting visualization: detailed transparency
From now on, BiblioCockpit provides differentiated status reports on return and sort processes, and also shows individual collection containers. In this way the staff member concerned knows whether a particular contain is full or is not currently docked, thereby causing the return or sort process to stop.
